Villa Fiorentino stands at Corso Italia 53, a nineteenth-century palazzo whose frescoed salons have hosted diplomats, poets, and composers since the Belle Époque.

The villa passed into municipal hands in the mid-twentieth century, and since 1998 the Fondazione Sorrento has programmed intimate opera concerts in its second-floor gallery — a space originally designed for chamber recitals, with hand-painted ceiling panels and three tall windows overlooking the Gulf of Naples. Performances open Tuesday through Sunday at 21:00, dark Mondays and Fridays, with gates admitting ticket-holders from 20:30.

The repertoire draws from the Neapolitan bel canto canon — Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini — alongside select arias from Verdi and Puccini. Singers are typically conservatory graduates from Naples and Milan; the piano accompaniment uses the villa's restored 1927 Steinway. Standard tickets cost forty-five euros and secure unreserved seating on upholstered benches arranged in shallow arcs facing the performance corner. Acoustics favor the human voice; the room holds fewer than ninety guests, so every seat offers clear sightlines and unamplified sound. Evening concerts last ninety minutes without intermission, finishing before 22:30 to allow the audience a short walk back to Piazza Tasso or the Marina Grande harbour.

Sorrento opera tours often pair the Villa Fiorentino concert with a pre-performance aperitivo at a nearby limoneto terrace, where prosecco and sfogliatelle provide a sensory prelude to the vocal program. The villa itself does not serve refreshments; visitors arrive directly for the performance. Outside the concert season — roughly mid-November through late March — the villa hosts art exhibitions and literary readings, but opera programming resumes each spring and runs through October, when the mild coastal evenings and open windows frame the arias against the distant lights of Vesuvius.
